Cenarth

Cenarth

Cenarth is a fascinating village on the border of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. The focus of the village are Cenarth Falls, a series of small waterfalls and pools on the river Teifi and a well known salmon leap.

There's a Coracle Centre and Flour Mill overlooking Cenarth Falls, and a number of interesting shops clustered around the old bridge. There's also a car park next to the bridge. A footpath runs along the north bank of the Teifi river for about half a mile but unfortunately stops there.

Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran

The Welsh Wildlife Centre is at Cilgerran, a few miles down river towards Cardigan. From here, an excellent traffic free cycle & walking path takes you to Cardigan along the route of the old Cardi Bach railway. The track takes you through the Teifi marshes where birdwatching hides provide viewpoints for spotting Cetti's warblers, waders or maybe even otters.

Cilgerran Castle is also a few miles down river, overlooking Cilgerran gorge. Heritage Canoes run canoe trips in Canadian canoes along the Teifi river starting from the Wildlife Centre.

There are plenty of small camp sites, caravan sites and one larger holiday park in Cenarth itself. There are some quality B&Bs and hotels in the vicinity and in nearby Cardigan. There are plenty of self catering cottages in most of the nearby villages and in Cenarth itself.
